Victim of dog attack sorry for dog

Four people are still recovering from a vicious dog attack in north Toledo that occurred Monday night.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Four people are still recovering from a vicious dog attack in north Toledo that occurred Monday night.

There wasn't just one attack, but two, and the woman attacked both times says she feels bad for the dog.

A dog attacked four people on East Hudson Street off of Lagrange Monday night, but Jane Poore says the dog first lunged at her neck just before 3 p.m.

"He grabbed me by my sweater and drug me to the ground," she said.

Poore suffered no bites, but about five hours later, she had just finished taking her garbage out when the same dog attacked her again, this time tearing into her leg.

"The dog continuously bit me and bit me," she said. "Then returned to bite my son again."

She said her two sons came out to help, but were also attacked. Cody Hoffman has serious arm injuries, and Corey Poore was bit on the leg. Their friend, Robert Cantua, was hospitalized.

Toledo Police were forced to shoot and kill the dog.

"It's a shame that the dog had to be put down," Poore said. "Even after what it did. It's not the dog's fault, it's the owner's fault."

Lucas County Dog Warden Julie Lyle says the dog's owner, Mary Taylor, was cited for failure to confine the dog.

Lyle also said they hadn't received previous calls about this dog, but Poore says it had been menacing the neighborhood for months.
