LORAIN, OH (WOIO) -

Police in Lorain continue to investigate an apparent double murder-suicide.

The bodies of three people were found at a home on E. 30th and Elyria on Sunday afternoon.

Police have a simple theory of the crime. An estranged husband returning to the home he had purchased with his wife to confront her and her new boyfriend.

It is unclear when Halyna Whitney and William Everett, Jr. were killed. Her father came to the home because he hadn't seen her at the church she attended, and he became worried.

It appears Halyna was shot by her estranged husband, Shone. Further medical testing will have to be done to make sure of that, because there were several weapons in the home and it is unclear if more than one was fired, or if there was an exchange of gunfire.

In 2011, Shone Whitney was arrested for domestic violence.

"We believe that Shone Whitney came to the residence, entered through a window and confronted Halyna and William Everett, Jr. in a bedroom," said Sgt. Bud Sivert of the Lorain Police Department.

The end result of this is that a 7-year-old girl and one-year-old baby boy are left without their parents. The children are with Halyna's parents.
