Monroe County man killed in sledding game gone wrong

MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash on Tuttlehill Road, in London Township, late Saturday night.

Preliminary investigation revealed that 27-year-old Roy W. Leffler, of Romulus, Michigan, was pulling a homemade sled on private property from his 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Romulus resident Robert L. Tackett, 25, was in the sled.

Police say while in motion, Tackett was ejected from the sled, striking a tree.

Tackett was transported in critical condition to St. Joseph's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan by ambulance.

He died late Saturday night at the hospital. The exact cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner's Office.

The crash remains under investigation.

Leffler, the driver, was not injured.
