BARBERTON, OH (WOIO) -

The man accused of brutally killing his girlfriend's parents pleads not guilty at his court hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Shawn Eric Ford, Jr., 18, appeared in court Wednesday on charges he picked up a sledgehammer and killed Jeff and Margaret Schobert of New Franklin. A 14 year old suspect is also facing charges in the killings.

Ford is charged with murder, robbery and grand theft. The bond stays the same at $2M cash.

Police say Ford and the teen beat the Schobert's to death on April 2.

The couple was found murdered by a construction crew. The Schobert's had been dead in the home for several hours.

Ford is also charged in the vicious attack of his girlfriend in Akron. Chelsea Schobert suffered a fractured skull. She is the daughter of the murdered couple.

Ford's case is now in the hands of the Summit County Grand Jury. He will be back in court later this month.

No motive has been mentioned.

After double overtime, the Toledo Walleye came out on top and beat the Indy 3-2 Thursday night for a sweep in the series. Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round.
