Republican candidates for municipal judge meet residents

The Perrysburg Municipal Court Judge position is being considered open for the first time in 20 years.

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Perrysburg Municipal Court Judge position is being considered open for the first time in 20 years.

All three Republican candidates gathered Monday night for a meet and greet.

The Northwest Ohio Conservative Coalition and the Northern Wood County Republican Club co-sponsored the event for the community to familiarize themselves with the candidates.

C. Drew Griffith, Molly Mack and Aram Ohanian all answered questions from the moderator and the audience.

Matt Reger, the Wood County Republican Party chair, moderated the event. He said he believes the hot topic of the evening was the issue of domestic violence, because the municipal court is often the first line victims face.

"I think citizens want somebody that they can trust, understand, relate to," Reger said. "[Somebody] they can trust with the decisions that they think are important for their community."

The primary election is May 7. Whoever wins that will represent the Republican Party in the November general election.
