Wolverines gear sales up in Maumee

After losing in the Elite Eight things have been quiet on the Buckeye side of the Buckeye and Wolverine Shop in Maumee, but Wolverine sales are up about 20 percent.

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - After losing in the Elite Eight things have been quiet on the Buckeye side of the Buckeye and Wolverine Shop in Maumee, but Wolverine sales are up about 20 percent.

Michigan fans have been streaming into the store throughout the tournament run, but sales really picked up once the team made it to the Final Four and the championship game. The manager Trent Waldron is a Wolverine fan himself, and said it's a great time to be running the store.

"We we first opened and Michigan's football team was struggling, you definitely saw that sales were down quite a bit," Waldron said. "Then as they worked themselves back up, the fans came out of the woodwork."

If the Wolverines win, the store will get championship T-shirts, hopefully by Wednesday. They also plan to get memorabilia in stock.
