Thief breaks into Rescue Gospel Mission

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A thief is on the run after breaking into the Toledo Rescue Gospel Mission Sunday night.

A call from a concerned citizen came in around 9:20 p.m. The robber allegedly jumped on the roof, dropped to a courtyard, then busted a window and headed for the office.

The office was ransacked in search of money.

The mission gives for free, so any donated money is precious to them.

"All the people would have to do is just come in and say, ‘Hey, you know, I'm in need,'" explained Tom Clapsaddle, executive director of the mission. "And if we have it, we have it. We let them have it if they have the need. So, you know, for someone to come in and break in and just...take it…It's disturbing, to say the least."

Clapsaddle believes desperate times are calling for desperate measures by people, but said help is there for those who need it. He also said he is not mad at the thief, and is willing to help them in the future, if they ask.

"If you need help, hey, you don't have to take it, just come and ask," he said. "God has provided for you, you just need to ask."
