BGSU Campus Police looking to hire new officers

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Bowling Green State University Campus Police Department is in the process of hiring new officers.

135 recruits were put through a rigorous fitness test on Saturday which included sit-ups, push-ups and running drills.

Five of the recruits who participated will be hired to fill recent vacancies.

The department is made up of 25 members.

The department is looking for recruits with good interpersonal skills.

"Here on a college campus, we're dealing with folks who are 18-22 years old and experiencing new issues for the first time in life, away from parents. It takes extreme patience trying to make things a teachable moment as much as we can," said Chief Monica Moll of the BGSU Campus Police.

The recruits will find out if they are hired by July 1st.
