Cleveland: East side camp out against violence

East side residents camp out to stop violence East side residents camp out to stop violence

After two murders and a sexual assault some local groups are a move, to take back a neighborhood!

One man has been charged, but two cases, are still unsolved and women, are still on edge.

The wave of violence on the east side has prompted local activists to set up a tent and build a fire at the intersection of East 93rd and Prince.

It's being called a so-called "camp out against violence." Several men are planning to sleep  and walk the streets all night until morning.

"I'm just out here to show support and to let the women know that there are men out here who care and want to see some change," said one supporter.

"I think it could bring attention to this community. Let the community know that we are concerned and they must be concerned too," said Donnie Pastard.

"I'm kind of disappointed because I felt there should have been more out here. I felt more men should have been out here to protect these women because it's very unsafe out here these days," said Pamela Fullilobe.

Residents are concerned after two brutal murders last month. Jazmine Trotter's body was found at an abandoned home along East 93rd.  Christine Malone was found dead in a field in the 9300 block of Bessemer. Incidents that have left women here on edge.

"Now since this happened, I don't feel as safe anymore,"added Pamela.

"I'm kind of uncomfortable at this point. So I hope this does some good," said Donnie.

The group gathered told 19 Action News they are planning to stay out in the cold until 6 o'clock Saturday morning.
