WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Millionsof dollars are being invested in northern Wood County, where several companies areworking on plant and distribution center expansions.

Constructionis already underway, and by the end of the year, two companies will have brandnew facilities up and running. There will soon be a new Fed-Ex freightdistribution center in Northwood, and a Caphalon in Middleton Township.

WoodCounty Economic Development Director Wade Gottschalk says he's not surprisedcompanies continue to choose that area for development.

"Wehave a very business-friendly atmosphere from all levels of the politicalspectrum," Gottschalk said. "We also have great transportational and locationalassets: I-75, I-80 and 90."

Betweenthe two companies, nearly 100 new jobs could be created, and even moreretained.

MichaelSaleh is the manager at Moody's Coney Island, which is located right by theFed-Ex center that's being built. He says he's glad the other companies chosehis area to expand, and the number of people stopping in for lunch just keepsgrowing.

"Rightnext door we've got a pizza place and a Chinese restaurant," Saleh said. "Before, these places were vacant and we had no other restaurants, besides us, in thiscomplex for a few years, and it's really helped expand that."
