TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Toledo Mayor Mike Bell is leading a delegation for a trip to Germany, to try to forge new business relationships and to deepen the bond with Delmenhorst, Toledo's sister city in that country.
Similar to his visits to China, the mayor will be bringing along some city officials and others.
While there, the group will visit the Hannover Fair, one of the largest trade shows in the world, which places a focus on technology development.
"I think it's highly appropriate if we're attempting to be an international city, we have to reach out internationally to be able to grab relationships," Mayor Bell said. "There's no way you can sit at home and hope they're going to show up. You have to go reach out."
Bell says he's never been to Germany, but he's looking forward to the experience to try to attract new businesses and investors to town, as well as enhancing cultural exchanges between Toledo and Delmenhorst.
The trip will be April 10-15.
