The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has released the autopsies for the two women killed on Cleveland's east side.

Both Jazmine Trotter, 20, and Christine Malone, 45, died from blunt head trauma and strangulation.

Trotter was found murdered on March 26. The missing woman's body was found underneath the back porch of an abandoned home on East 93rd Street.

Trotter's body was found by family members after she failed to show up for work.

Malone, a mother of eight, was found on the 9000 block of Bessemer Avenue last Thursday afternoon.

Per the request of the Cleveland Division of Police, the FBI is now involved.

Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed and concerned residents went door to door Tuesday, around East 93rd Street, to warn neighbors.

"The community still has not healed since the Sowell incident and we do not want to open those wounds again as we go down a pathway of our women being murdered and raped in the community," said Councilman Zack Reed.

"Three women in our community have been murdered in recent weeks and another woman was fortunate to escape from her attacker this past weekend," added Reed. "All residents in Cleveland's southeast neighborhoods need to be on the looking out for one another and help the Cleveland Police by providing any information or reporting any suspicious activity. We must work together to put a stop to these recent horrific crimes."

Councilman Reed and volunteers distributed flyers with a description of the abduction suspect; safety tips; and details on a community meeting set for April 9.

All three women found near or in abandoned buildings. We asked the councilman what's being done to take care of those buildings that are a target for crime.

"We've been tearing down on an average at least a thousand to fifteen hundred per year. We've got a whole lot more to do we're hoping the federal government gives us the money to do it," Councilman Reed explained.

The Cleveland Division of Police offers the following advice if you are walking alone after dark or before daylight:

  • Be aware of your surroundings;
  • Do not be preoccupied or distracted by such things as texting, listening to music, or playing games on cell phones;
  • Always notify a friend or family member of your intended destination and whereabouts; and
  • Always call police if you see anything suspicious.
