BGSU found dead in off-campus apartment

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Bowling Green State University student reportedly passed away in an off-campus apartment.

In a letter sent out to students, faculty and staff early Saturday morning, President Mary Ellen Mazey made the announcement.

"This comes as a shock to us all, and we join his family and friends in their sorrow," said Mazey.

Brandon Brown, 21, was a junior from Bryan, Ohio, in the College of Technology.

Brandon was found unresponsive by his father shortly after 1 a.m., Saturday.

His father called 911 from his son's apartment on the 100 block of University Lane, in Bowling Green.

Once emergency officials arrived, Brown was pronounced dead on the scene.

His cause of death is unknown at this time.

It is unclear if he had any roommates.

The matter is now being investigated by the Wood County Coroner who will schedule an autopsy.

Officials say grief counseling is available from the BGSU Counseling Center.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

An after-hours line is available as well at 419-352-1545.
