CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati announced today a 12-date live performance schedule to be hosted in its outdoor event plaza, ‘The Shoe.' 

The 19-week series will feature a wide variety of world-class entertainers, ranging from upbeat pop to outlaw country.

The Shoe is a one-acre plaza located at the front entrance of the new casino, which opened March 4, 2013.

The Killers will open the venue on May 16 and Earth, Wind & Fire will conclude the 19-week concert series on September 22.  Several additional acts are expected to perform at The Shoe this spring and summer and will be announced as dates are confirmed.

"The Shoe was created as a space to host big name entertainment in the heart of downtown Cincinnati and this schedule will allow us to do just that," said casino Senior Vice President and General Manager Kevin Kline.  "We're delighted to welcome these legendary entertainers and their fans to our truly unique intimate outdoor setting," he said.

  • Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon and Fastball, Thursday, July 25
  • Chicago, Friday, August 23
  • Jeff Dunham, Thursday, Sept. 5
  • Earth, Wind & Fire, Sunday, Sept. 22

    Monsoon Lagoon Waterpark personnel are mourning the loss of their giraffe Macey's calf, which died after an early birth Thursday.
