Restoration begins on famed downtown building

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The new owners of the former Caesar's Show Bar building are wasting no time with restoration, in hopes of attracting new businesses to the site.

A large crane has been set up along Ontario Street, as workers begin to tear up the old roof to install a new roof. The inside of the building is also being totally gutted.

The new owners are hoping the first level will possibly attract a restaurant operation with office space on the upper levels.

Bill Thomas, with Downtown Toledo Development Corporation, says the project has the potential to spark other building renovations in that immediate area.

"On the other side with the Pythian, we already have some people that are looking at the Pythian, maybe we'll have some activity there. So by that building becoming vibrant and stable again, I think that whole area is going to start to improve," said Thomas.

Earlier this month the Lucas County Land Bank finalized the deal to put the building back into private hands.
