Don't Waste Your Money: Products that last forever

(Toledo News Now) -

Have you ever wondered why mom's old washing machine ran for decades, but today's cool, new, high-efficiency models are lucky if they go for 10 years? It seems everything breaks so soon these days, but some products seem to make it.

These days it seems that many items are disposable. Whether it's a cell phone, computer, or appliance, after a few years, it's pretty much done and time to trade for a new one.

Some Products Can Still Last Forever

Remember back when mom's old Maytag would last 40 years? Nowadays, a 2-year-old iPhone is considered on its last legs, and many kitchen appliances don't last much longer.

But AOL Daily Finance says there are still some products that never need replacing.

Among them:

-Electrolux vacuums and Kitchen Aid mixers. Many are still working at age 50.

-North Face jackets will go out of style long before they wear out.

-The same goes for JanSport backpacks and Carhartt jackets.

-Nintendo's Game Boy Color Hand Held Video System and Nintendo 64.

-Old Texas Instruments calculators.

-Your old baby blanket.

Doesn't That Stink

But from the Doesn't That Stink file comes high-efficient products with short lifespans. Today's high-efficient refrigerators and washing machines use lots of electronics and plastics, which simply will not last 30 years.

But get used to it, like a Kim Kardashian marriage, many things just don't last as long as they should.

So it's good to know that in this disposable society, there are still a few things that last more than a couple of years. With those, you don't have to open your wallet every couple of years, and you don't waste your money.
