FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) - Friday was preview day atthe University of Findlay. Students interested in animal sciences got a closerlook at two of the university's unique majors.

Hundreds of students fromall over the country attended to learn about the pre-vet and equestrian studiesprograms. Each year, the university accepts about 245 students into theiranimal science  programs.

About 165 of those areusually majoring in pre-veterinarian sciences, and a large portion of thosestudents go on to become small animal veterinarians.

"Across the board, thereis a shortage of large animal veterinarians," said Director of Admissions DonnaGruber. "It's more of a physically taxing profession."

But not all students havebeen scared away. Brooke Hoven is from central Pennsylvania and is eager tolearn.

"I hope to learn how totake care of them," Hoven said. "I want to have my own, and be able to care forothers."

Other students said they'reattracted to the school's unique 4-year equestrian degree.

"I've heard it was one ofthe top equestrian schools in the country, and that really interested me," saidNikkole Duke, who just got accepted to the university.

Gruber says studentsstudying either field can expect a very hands-on education.
