Sister Gretchen’s Bake Sale through Saturday

SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

For 15 years, the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania have been putting on the Sister Gretchen's Bake Sale.

It's one of their biggest fundraisers. Sister Gretchen, along with six volunteers, have been preparing for the Easter bake sale for two months - baking everything from sweet breads and coffee cakes to 90 dozen cut-out cookies.

"I grew up baking since I was 10 years old," Sister Gretchen Faeber said. "One thing that we sell a lot of are the pretzels that we make. I have the molds for each season, and I take the pretzel rods and put them in the chocolate and I make 500 of them for each bake sale."

The sale runs again Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until noon at the Regina Hall Conference Room.

After the bake sale, Sister Gretchen says she plans to take a week off before she begins preparing for the crafts sale they hold at Christmas.
