OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The community is rising up and supporting a local equestrian center after a devastating barn fire killed 10 horses, six of them therapy horses, in the early morning hours of March 21.

Vail Meadows, best known for providing therapeutic services for young people with special needs, says on their Facebook page that they are overwhelmed with messages of support from people all across the country.

The 25 acre horse farm was home to an indoor, climate controlled arena used for equestrian riding events of all kinds. It is unclear if that was also damaged in fire.

They say on their website, "Our goal is to provide a service to everyone and never turn away anyone." And it looks like the community is now returning the favor.

Icons Eatery and Entertainment along with Event Design Professionals will be hosting two charity events to benefit the Vail Meadows Equestrian Center.

The first event will be a spaghetti dinner Saturday, March 30 from 5-9 p.m. at Icons Eatery and Entertainment. Icons will be donating the food for the event and all money collected will go directly to Vail Meadows. The cost will be $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

The second event is the Vail Meadows Benefit Golf Scramble Saturday, May 18 at Eagle's Landing Golf Course in Oregon. The event will be a four person scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with dinner immediately following at Icons Eatery and Entertainment. More details on this event will be forthcoming.

The third event is a Lia Sophia jewelry sale, with all proceeds going to Vail Meadows. Their event is currently on Facebook under "Vail Meadows Fundraiser."

A fourth event is Run for the Meadows 5K race hosted by a local organization. The race will take place Saturday, May 25. You can register here.

Donations to help the organization can also be made at the First Federal Bank of the Midwest on Navarre Avenue in Oregon.

Staffers at Vail Meadows are asking that no one visit the farm Friday, as they are saying goodbye to the animals that were killed and wish to do so in peace.

We'll have more on this story and the community outreach to support the barn after this tragedy, tonight on WTOL 11 News at 5 and 6.
