After 51 tournament victories, 3 national championships and being a 3 time national coach of the year. Former Darton head golf coach Dale Dover will be inducted into the NJCAA Golf Coaches Hall of Fame.
Dover will be the first coach to enter the Hall of Fame for his work at Darton. The announcement was made at Darton on Tuesday earlier today. Dover began as an assistant in 2001 and was head coach from 2003 to 2010. He coached 23 All-Americans and 2 National Championship medalist.
He says he was surprised about his selection because the committee was made up of Division I coaches and his 2 National Championship teams were in Division II at the time.
A very humbled Dover gave all the credit to those around him for such an incredible accomplishment.
"It took of hard work and dedication by my wife. She was tremendous behind the scenes in all of this. She put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes for Darton but its still been all about the players. I never hit a shot or made a put."
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is in May at the NJCAA National Tournament in Lubbock, Texas.
