Owens hosts third clothing swap drive

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Buying clothes for a growing baby or child can get expensive, so why not trade your old baby clothes in for new, bigger clothes that fit? Owens Community College hosted a clothing swap event Tuesday for such an occasion.

The clothing swap benefited both the community and the Cherry Street Mission. People were asked to bring in their old baby clothes and in exchange, they could pick out new clothes.

This is the third time Owens has hosted a clothing swap.

Officials say the clothing drive is especially important for families who may not be able to afford new clothes.

"Nowadays with [hard] times and stuff, you know, a lot of people are poor and stuff like that. Times like this, we're just trying to give a help out to everybody," said Brad Fields, OCC Student Government president.

All leftover articles of clothing will be donated to the Cherry Street Mission or saved for the next clothing swap.
