It's been a difficult few days for the family of the man found dead in Fremont, identified as Damon Scott.

Scott had been missing since January, and his body was identified by authorities Wednesday. Now his sister says she has found a new appreciation for life.

"I learned a lot out of the situation," Devon Scott said. "That no matter what you go through, you never know what the worst is going to be."

After losing her brother, Devon says she's learned to take advantage of the time given to her.

Scott, 38, lost his wife and eldest son years ago. Now Devon is sad that her brother's remaining children won't be able to see their father again.

"They've already lost their mother when they were kids, of a very serious accident," Devon said. "So they grew up with no mother and here we complained about life…and now I had no idea they were going to end up with no dad, too. So maybe people shouldn't complain and complain and enjoy the time that you have together."

She said her brother was a devoted father and son, who would make a point of visiting his mother on a daily basis, and that they all miss him deeply.

"I wish you wouldn't have left us so quick," she said. "But I'm thankful for all the time we had with you."

The cause of death is unknown at this time. Fremont Police are waiting on an autopsy.
