Empty Findlay buildings to be auctioned

FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Some empty buildings indowntown Findlay could soon see new life.

Four buildings werescheduled to be demolished, but the Hancock County Commissioners voted to putthem up for auction instead.

"We're putting them outfor a minimum $340,000 to see if we can get that price point met, and thenmaybe get some continued investment in the Findlay-Hancock County area," saidCommissioner Brian Robertson.

A development grouprecently contacted commissioners with potential plans for the buildings, whichsparked the commissioners' interest.

Some residents said theydon't like having the empty buildings, but would like to see them have anotherchance.

"If the city can sell themand earn the money, then they should do that," said resident Tobin Prowant. "I justdon't think we should hold on to things that don't help the city."

The auction is scheduledfor May 9. If the buildings – three on South Main and one on Dorney Plaza – don'tsell, commissioners say they will be torn down.
