Troopers find handgun, $25K cash during OVI arrest in Toledo

A Toledo man is facing multiple charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized a weapon and thousands of dollars in cash during a traffic stop in which he seemed to be impaired.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A Toledo man is facing multiple charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized a weapon and thousands of dollars in cash during a traffic stop in which he seemed to be impaired.

Troopers stopped a 2012 Dodge Ram truck with Ohio registration for a marked lanes violation on Reynolds Road in Toledo at 1:38 a.m. March 9. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers noticed a loaded Ruger .40 handgun in plain view on the driver's lap. The driver appeared to be impaired.

A probable cause search revealed $25,730 in cash.

The driver, Tremaine Willis, 28, of Toledo, was incarcerated in the Lucas County Jail. He has been charged with weapons under disability, a third-degree felony, plus carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony. Additionally, Willis was charged with OVI.
