Mother accepts plea deal in Arlington Hts theft


One of the women charged with stealing money from the village of Arlington Heights has accepted a plea deal.

Donna Covert, 52, plead guilty on Monday after her and her daughter, Laura Jarvis, were accused of stealing $260,000 in traffic fine money from the village while they were employees. Authorities believe it happened between July 1st, 2007 and  February 19th, 2010.

Covert and Jarvis were indicted for two counts of theft in office, two counts of tampering with records and one count of unauthorized use of property.

Covert agreed to a one year in prison sentence on Monday, after facing over 15 years behind bars. Her official sentencing is scheduled in June.

Jarvis's case was continued to April 4th.
