New life for Caesar’s Show Bar building

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Through a deal with the Lucas County Land Bank, a local company with a track record of renovating buildings has acquired the former Caesar's Show Bar building, located at 725 Jefferson Avenue.

IBC Inc. plans to address needed repairs to the roof and exterior, according to Joe Marck.

"It's definitely early enough on, any of the roof damage really hasn't led to any structural issues with the building," he said. "The first thing is making sure nothing else happens up there, getting a new roof on, starting probably next month we'll get that on."

The company has renovated the buildings which are home to the Spaghetti Warehouse and Table 44.

"They were much like this, buildings which needed some ‘TLC'. We focus on getting them worked up again, once prospective renters can see what the building is after the legwork is put in, it's a lot easier to find some interest."

What the company is interested in is a successful mixed-use redevelopment at 725 Jefferson.

"With it only being two blocks away from the arena, there's always potential for restaurants," Marck said. "There a lot of law offices around here, so we're figuring with the stately appearance of the building it could be a good location for some legal departments."

Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz calls it another important save for the Land Bank program.

"If we get involved early, find a partner like we did in this case with Mr. Marck, and save it, that's the best case scenario," Kapszukiewicz said. "Absolutely this is a structure that almost certainly would have been demolished without our intervention."
