Home prices up 21% in Lucas, Wood counties

(Toledo News Now) -

The numbers are in and it looks like business is picking up for local realtors and builders in multiple northwestern Ohio counties.

Realtors in Lucas and upper Wood counties are busier than ever thanks to a 21 percent increase in home sales prices.

The Toledo Board of Realtors released data Thursday that shows local realtors and contractors have plenty reasons to be happy. The average sale price of houses is up by about $17,000. Lucas and Wood counties are also seeing an increase in new construction.

"It's definitely twice as good - or better - than last year at this time," said Jason Knisel, with Knisel Exteriors.

Local realtor Jody Zink says everything the area has to offer makes Wood County an attractive place to live.

"I think they have a great park system. A lot of families for see great things happening with their school districts and I think that has a lot to do with it," explained Zink.
It seems as though the real estate business in Wood County is not going to slow down any time soon.

"We have at least 30 some houses projected right now for the summer already, and it's early," said Knisel.

Zink believes the pent-up demand for real estate is causing the increase in buyers.

"There's more growth in Perrysburg and northern Wood County than anywhere else in the region," said Zink.
