School bus accident sends 9 kids to hospital for observation

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 33-year-old Daniel R. Ohms of Fremont was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pick-up truck with a trailer when he failed to yield and hit the side of a Fremont City Schools bus.

FREMONT, OH (Toledo News Now) - Nine students were taken to the hospital for observation after an accident involving a school bus Thursday morning. All were later released after being checked out.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 33-year-old Daniel R. Ohms of Fremont was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pick-up truck with a trailer when he failed to yield and hit the side of a Fremont City Schools bus. The accident happened at the intersection of County Road 198 and State Route 412 around 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

The highway patrol says 9 students were on board the bus at the time. All of the students were taken to an area hospital of observation. None sustained serious injuries.  Ohms, his passenger and the bus driver were uninjured.

Ohms was cited by the Highway Patrol for failing to yield the right-of-way.
