Mandel speaks with local business owners in BG

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel went to Bowling Green Wednesday morning to ask local small business owners how the state can help them recover.

A total of 25 local small business owners met with Mandel for a roundtable discussion to talk about how they think the state can be more friendly towards small businesses.

"When I look at northwestern Ohio - Lucas County, Wood County, the surrounding areas - I see a talented workforce, people of high integrity, and great opportunity for job growth," said Mandel.

The meeting was less of a lecture and more of a discussion. Mandel said he wanted the business owners to lead the conversation and tell him what they needed from lawmakers in Columbus. Topics discussed included taxes, local growth, as well as programs the state is bringing in to help small businesses succeed.

"It was fantastic to have somebody from Columbus actually come up and listen to businesses in the area and find out what we need to help our small businesses grow," said Jill Kegler, CEO of Kellermeyer Corp.

Mandel believes if the state can grow industries like agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation, the region will thrive.
