Hancock County gears up for snow removal

HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

HancockCounty is bracing for several inches of snow expected Tuesday night.

Roadcrews are ready to go when snow hits to make sure roads will be safe fordrivers.

"Wehave all of our trucks ready," said Matt Stoffel, of the Findlay Public Worksdepartment. "They're fueled, everything's checked in them, and they're ready togo."

That's18 snow plow trucks for the City of Findlay. The county itself has 24 vehicles.

HancockCounty Engineer Chris Long said it takes about 3-4 hours to make one lap of acounty road route. So workers will get an early start clearing snow – one crewwill report to work at 3 a.m.

Privateplow companies are preparing, as well.

"Thisyear is turning out to be more than expected," said Jim Brown, a local plower.He said his phone will be ringing off the hook once the snow startsaccumulating.

Thecity and county have plenty of rock salt thanks to the last couple mildwinters. They said they are nowhere close to busting their budgets on snowremoval services.
