Meth lab found near Deshler, police search for suspects

At least one suspect is atlarge after a meth lab was found in an abandoned home north of Deshler.

The Henry and Wood CountySheriff's offices are investigating the situation, in which one person iscurrently in custody for tampering with evidence.

Henry County Sheriff MichaelBodenbender said the lab was found under the crawl space of the abandonedhouse. It wasn't anything elaborate – just two 5-gallon buckets – but what wasinside is still very dangerous.

"With the chemicals thatthey use, they're considered hazardous and we actually had to call in BCI toclean it up because we're not even supposed to be touching the buckets they'rein," Bodenbender said. "They can explode. They're very toxic."

The clean up was completedsmoothly, and the sheriff said they'll continue to crack down on not just methbut all illegal substances.

"Drugs, in particular, arean issue and this is just another one we have to deal with," he said. "As theycome, we're going to deal with them."
