Drivers in Lucas and Ottawa counties are preparing for a three-month road closure. State Route 2 between Lucas-Ottawa Road and West Krause Road will be blocked off to drivers before the sun goes down Monday.
Traffic is still flowing heavily, but any moment now SR 2 will be closing down until spring, which means drivers have to find another route.
The Crane Creek Bridge, which sits near the county border, is being replaced.
Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation drivers can expect to run into road blocks beginning Monday night. All day crews have been working to put up detour signs for state Route 579, state Route 51 and Interstate 280.
More than 6,000 drivers cross this road every day, especially truck drivers.
The closure is expected to last until May 25. Then the road will reopen with intermittent lane restrictions through October.
