(WMC-TV) – Voters were shocked to hear the news of Congressman Steve Cohen's secret daughter.  Now that he opened up about his family life, how do voters feel?

Voters in Cohen's 9th District, like Addison Paul, are not sure what to think.

"He did hold the truth from us and he's got to be held accountable for that. In the same respect nobody's perfect," Paul said.

"I really don't have an opinion on that," another voter stated. "It think it's probably going to be a scandal, I'm sure."

Van Turner, Chairman of the Shelby County Democratic Party, thinks it is good Cohen told the truth and he says being a parent is likely a good thing for the congressman.

"It's surprising," Turner said. "I think it's wonderful news, parenthood changes you. I'm here with my daughter, so I think you look at issues a little differently. It really makes you a well rounded elected public servant," he added.

The voters we spoke to who did not want to talk on camera did not seem to think it makes much difference that Steve Cohen had a secret daughter. They say it is pretty much his business.
