Sheriff's office to remake drug dealer's Corvette into teaching tool

PORT CLINTON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office has a new ride, and it's quite unexpected.

As a part of a plea deal, deputies said a local drug dealer had to give his 1985 Chevy Corvette to the department.

Sheriff Steve Levorchick said the car will be painted black, covered with sheriff logos and given lights on top, and used mainly for parades and workshops teaching kids about the dangers of dealing with drugs.

"For public awareness to the kids, that dealing drugs doesn't pay, and being involved in any drug activity does not pay," Levorchick said. "So we want to reach the kids if we can, and use the car as one of those tools, because obviously kids will think it's a cool car."

The car is currently being looked over by a mechanic.

Levorchick also said the car may be used for patrols once in awhile.
