Gov. Patrick's statement on the State of the Union Address

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Gov. Deval Patrick released the following statement after President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union Address Tuesday night:

"Tonight the president proposed a plan to grow jobs and opportunity, a plan that history has proven will work. We have seen here in Massachusetts and across the country that when you invest in public infrastructure and education you create jobs, strengthen the middle class and build a better future. I am excited to work with the president to advance his growth agenda, and call on the Congress and the American public to join me in that commitment."

The fate of an iconic landmark in one western Massachusetts town is in jeapordy.    The old train depot in East Longmeadow near the center of town is a very familiar sight to residents.  Built in 1876, it's image even adorns the town seal.   However, the fate of the land it sits on is up in the air, and so is the future of the depot.
