HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Under Gov. John Kasich'snew school budget proposal, Findlay is the only school district in HancockCounty set to see any increase in state aid over the next two years.

Although some residentsdon't think this is necessarily fair, McComb Superintendent Mike Lamb said thenews didn't come as a surprise to him.

"[I'm] still optimistic,"he said. "It could have been much worse. We could have received somesignificant cuts like we have the past two years."

In anticipation of noincreases, McComb closed a middle school building over the past year. Nowgrades K-12 are housed in one building. They save money by not heating orstaffing two buildings, and Lamb said they have enough room.

Some residents of thevillage are more frustrated with the proposed budget.

"Our children here in theMcComb area and other rural areas…have a right to just as much funding fortheir education as the larger schools do," said Teresa Andrews, owner of alocal thrift store.
