Perrysburg to put transit levy on May ballot

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Perrysburg city council voted unanimously to add a levy to the May ballot, in a second attempt to raise money for a public transit system.

Some council members believe the language on the previous ballot may have been part of the reason why the levy failed before.

"It wasn't obscure, but it could've been clearer," said Council Member Todd Grayson. "I think it will help that people understand that the main underlying factor to all of this is helping disabled folks get around the city."

But city residents are the most thankful to give the levy another shot.

"There's a lot of wealthy people in Perrysburg, there's well-to-do people, there's healthy people," Sharon Hoover said. "It's just not really well-known that there are disabled people and low-income people who need this…This service is very important."
