TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Toledo Fire Department says it was called to the YMCA in west Toledo around 10:45 Monday morning. A fire dispatcher says crews found a victim from a near drowning incident and transported the man to a hospital.

Representative Rob Thomas from the YMCA says a male member was participating in an open swimming session in the facility's lap pool. He was extracted from the pool by YMCA lifeguards and they called 911. When EMS arrived, they took over lifesaving efforts and transported the victim to the hospital. The man was conscious when EMS transported him.

There is still no word on his name or condition at this time.

Thomas says the YMCA will investigate the incident, as well as review its safety and emergency procedures to continuously seek to improve the safety and well-being for patrons.
