Corinth St. residents get clean-up response

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Residents on Corinth Street were happy Thursday, after a Call 11 for Action story the day before prompted action from the city.

Neighbors near the former site of Libbey High School were upset about trash and old tires piling up on vacant lots on their street.

City crews stopped by Thursday to do some clean-up, and now the bags of trash and piles of tires are gone.

"Now it's looking good," said resident Robert Stucker. "We're happy about that."

Stucker and other neighbors said they just want to make sure their street looks like a neighborhood, not a landfill.

"Tell the people not to throw their trash down our street, we don't need that," Stucker said. "We can't watch them at night because we're sleeping."

The residents hope police can put illegal dumping on their radar screen, and that the city crews will be more timely when it comes to future clean-up.
