BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is gettingready to break ground on a multi-million dollar health center.

The Falcon Health Center will cost $4-5 million tobuild. The 20,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will be the future ofhealth care at BGSU. Students say the new center will be a big improvement fromthe current space.

"It's a little old-school," said Lisa Hidleberg,BGSU student. "More innovative, more technology. I think it would be reallygood for the university."

The health center will be operated by the Wood CountyHospital, and sit in the former site of the university's pop culture building.

Wood County Hospital President Stan Korducki saidstudents and faculty can expect more convenient care at the new facility.

"Providers at the health care center wouldsometimes struggle to link up with us for continuity of care, so this way willbe very, very seamless and will make for better care," Korducki explained. Healso said students will be able to get their medical information online if theywish.

There are around 40 employees at the currentfacility, but that number is expected to grow.

Construction will begin later this week. Studentssay they can't wait to see the new building.

"I think it's great and really exciting that they'rebuilding new buildings on campus," said Freshman Olivia Krupp. "It will begreat for students to have a place to go for medical help."

Korducki is hoping construction will be finished inAugust, but said things will definitely be up and running by the end of theyear. Plans for the current facility are still unknown.
