530 jobs coming to Lenawee County

LENAWEE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

A Lenawee County company is planning to add approximately 530 jobs with the help of a $5.3 million state grant.

State Rep. Nancy Jenkins announced Friday that the Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant, meant to help boost economic development in the region, was awarded to Lenawee Stamping Corporation in Tecumseh. The company produces metal stamping and welding fabrications for auto bodies and other substructures.

"I'm pleased that Lenawee Stamping is investing in our local communities and our state's economy," Jenkins said in a press release. "Our state has become a much better place to do business in the past two years, and companies like Lenawee Stamping investing here are proof of that. I congratulate everyone who has been working on this project and look forward to the business expansion and job creation that will come from it."

Lenawee Stamping will use the grant money to expand and add programs to the company. In addition, their parent company Van Rob, Inc., is also working to add an additional facility in the state.

The expansion is expected to help more than just Lenawee Stamping. Nick Pereloff owns Basil Boys Pizza in Tecumseh, and gets a lot of business from Lenawee Stamping employees.

"I think it's going to be fantastic because it's going to get employees moving this way," Pereloff said. "So in the lung run [we'll] be doing business continuously as opposed to a lunch business. It will bring more people to the area."
