(RNN) - We all know the stress of slicing a banana can easily split a relationship, but an item on Amazon may help to peel off the problem – it's been called "a life changer, greatest invention ever," and even been said to "save a marriage."

At least that's what many people have been saying on the website about the yellow device, that slices bananas into perfect bite size discs for your enjoyment. It's the Hutzler 571 Banana Slicer.

It's become a tradition among Amazon users to find the most off the wall products for sale on the site, and write sarcastically radiant reviews of them. From the Three Wolf Moon T-shirt to the Bic for Her pens and now up for a good roast is this plastic thingamabob that lets you "slice an entire banana with one quick motion."

According to its description, the 571 is "faster, safer than using a knife, great for cereal, plastic, dishwasher safe," and, the makers note, "Kids love slicing their own bananas!"

But one user gives a warning that if you like bananas in your cereal this may not be the item for you.

"This is completely moronic. I have been trying to eat my cereal with this for several hours now, and have gotten NO WHERE," they said.

Hilarious user "reviews" have been pouring into the product's Amazon page.

Close to 2,500 people have taken to the site to publicly display their thoughts and feelings on the Hutzler 571. (With 1,250 users giving it 5 stars!)

Posted in March 2011, "No more winning for you, Mr. Banana!" is the review voted "most helpful" by other Amazon's users.

About 28,020 of 28,245 people found the following review helpful:

"For decades I have been trying to come up with an ideal way to slice a banana. 'Use a knife!' they say. parole officer won't allow me to be around knives. 'Shoot it with a gun!' Background check...HELLO! I had to resort to carefully attempt to slice those bananas with my bare hands. 99.9% of the time, I would get so frustrated that I just ended up squishing the fruit in my hands and throwing it against the wall in anger. Then, after a fit of banana-induced rage, my parole officer introduced me to this kitchen marvel and my life was changed. No longer consumed by seething anger and animosity towards thick-skinned yellow fruit, I was able to concentrate on my love of theatre and am writing a musical play about two lovers from rival gangs that just try to make it in the world. I think I'll call it South Side Story."

But at the bargain price of $1.29 can you really afford not to have the Hutzler 571 Banana Slicer in your kitchen drawer and in your life?

While you give that deep thought, read these reviews for the slicer dedicated to chopping up something that a spork would seem more fitting for.

"What can I say about the 571B Banana Slicer that hasn't already been said about the wheel, penicillin, or the iPhone.... this is one of the greatest inventions of all time. My husband and I would argue constantly over who had to cut the day's banana slices. It's one of those chores NO ONE wants to do! You know, the old "I spent the entire day rearing OUR children, maybe YOU can pitch in a little and cut these bananas?" and of course, "You think I have the energy to slave over your damn bananas? I worked a 12 hour shift just to come home to THIS?!" These are the things that can destroy an entire relationship. It got to the point where our children could sense the tension. The minute I heard our 6-year-old girl in her bedroom, re-enacting our daily banana fight with her Barbie dolls, I knew we had to make a change. That's when I found the 571B Banana Slicer. Our marriage has never been healthier, AND we've even incorporated it into our lovemaking. THANKS 571B BANANA SLICER!"

"Once I figured out I had to peel the banana before using - it works much better. Ordering one for my nephew who's in the air force in California. He's been using an old slinky to slice his banana's. He should really enjoy this product!"

"No more throwing bananas at the ceiling fan for me! This product has saved me the work of peeling the banana slices off the wall after the fan slices them. Thanks, banana slicer!"

"I have served in the US Army for over 12 years. I can say that there is technology being used by the military that is rarely seen in the civilian sector. Once in a while, however, an amazing product is released by the DoD for civilian use. The 571B is one of those products. Although once called the M571B Tactical Banana Slicer (TBS)V1, they have declassified it for public use. I am glad to see this product on the market today but I will warn you now, this is a CIVILIAN model and not designed for field use!"

"This is the greatest kitchen utensil ever! Can't believe how much time I used to waste with a ruler and pencil, marking my bananas to get those perfectly uniform slices. I was terrible at geometry and trigonometry so it was hard for me to get exact measurements on curved bananas with a straight ruler. Then I had to go back and remove the pencil marks after slicing. There was always that tiny eraser smudge on every slice. This wonderful gadget frees up much more time that can be spent marking my cantaloupes for perfect slices--and boy do I need all the help I can get. It's even harder to use my ruler to mark round fruit than curved fruit. Hutzler, you're the best. All my friends are getting one of these for Christmas."
