Cleveland teacher honored by Essence magazine

Tequila Pennington-Calwise, a third-grade teacher with Cleveland's Euclid Park School, has been named the Hardest Black Working Woman in America by Essence magazine.

She was nominated for the award based on the work she does not only for her school, but for her community and family. 

Pennington-Calwise, who has a Master's in Education, has been teaching in the classroom for 17 years. She is also co-founder of the program LadyBound -- and organization that focuses on social development, personal empowerment and healthy lifestyles for girls in grades six through eight.

The 39-year old has been married for 15 years to Brian Calwise, Sr. They have two children.

Tequila received numerous gifts for being named Hardest Black Working Woman in America including an all-expenses paid trip to New York City.
