Kyrie Irving scored 29 points to lead the Cavaliers past Washington 92-84 in the season opener at the Q. Irving wasn't the only Cav to have a big night. Anderson Varejao grabbed 23 rebounds to go with nine points and nine assists. Dion Waiters put in 17 in his NBA debut. Waiters had a better night than the player selected two picks in front of him- Bradley Beal. Beal had an eight point night for the Wizards.
Cleveland built a 14 point lead in the second half only to see it evaporate. Janerro Pargo's three pointer with 8:11 left to play in the game put the Wizards up 76-74. But Irving and company would come back.
The Cavs went on a 20-8 run to put the game away. Tristan Thompson had three dunks down the stretch to finish with a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) to help finish off the Wizards.
The Cavs start the season 1-0, they host Chicago on Friday night at 7:30.
