Trick-or-treating happening in Defiance Tuesday

DEFIANCE, OH (Toledo News Now) - Children trick-or-treated in Defiance Tuesday despite many other communities in northwest Ohio that chose to reschedule.

"Because of Sandy, we knew that the weather conditions would change, but we've created havoc with a lot of people's schedules moving it once," said Mayor Bob Armstrong.

Trick-or-treat in defiance was originally planned for last Thursday but changed when presidential candidate Mitt Romney held a victory rally in defiance.

"You know what, it's Halloween. So it's for the kids, it's an awesome experience. I would have definitely preferred the warmer weather of last week, but you know, I don't think weather can dampen the spirits of the kids and Halloween getting our for fun and festivities, so I think it's awesome," said Kristi Pry.

Mayor Armstrong said he received many phone calls asking him to reschedule Halloween one more time.

Parents said rescheduling again would have been disappointing to the kids.

"I think the kids were ready to go this time around. If it was snowing raining, sleeting, sunny weather, we were out here regardless," said parent Tim Dumire.
