Volunteers continue to push for Obama campaign

(Toledo News Now) – With only a few days left until the election, Obama volunteers are ramping up their efforts to get the president re-elected.

Volunteers are various tasks in these final days, from picking up phones, knocking on doors and most of all, encouraging early voting. They say that is the key to winning this election.

There is an excited buzz in the air at the Toledo Obama campaign office. With only seven days left to go, it is all hands on deck.

Volunteers believe this is the most important election in years. With stakes this high, volunteers are doing all they can to bring home a win. At the Sylvania office, they are preparing for a busy weekend of going door to door in Sylvania Township, no matter what the weather is.

The president's volunteers are a huge help in swaying undecided voters.

In the latest polls, Obama has a slim lead, but that does not matter to supporters.

"The only poll that counts is the one on Election Day. That's why anyone who wants to see President Obama win should vote, and vote early," said Joe McNamara, Toledo City Council president.

McNamara, says early voting helps the president know where he stands in the battleground state, and lets him focus on undecided voters.

On Tuesday night, supporters at the Sylvania office will continue making phone calls for President Obama. They say they will not stop until the polls close next Tuesday.

The Obama campaign says they are still looking for volunteers in these last few days. Learn more about volunteering.
