Salon owner jumps out window to avoid police

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The owner of Matthew Vincente Salon, Matthew Gonzalez is facing a tampering with evidence charge after he jumped out of a 2nd story window and threw his cell phone so police could not use it as evidence.

The salon is located on Garden Rd. in Toledo.

According to an affidavit, Toledo Police were conducting an interview with Gonzalez at his salon back on October 5 in relation to a felony pandering obscenity.

Pandering obscenity is the act of creating, selling or distributing visual or print media designed to appeal to a person's sexual interest.

During the interview, Gonzalez's phone was on the table as part of the investigation.

During the interview Gonzalez got up, grabbed his phone and dove out of the 2nd floor window. Gonzales threw the phone and still has not been located.

Gonzales is facing tampering with evidence charges because throwing the phone impairs the value and hinders the investigation.

Gonzalez was released from custody on October 6 on $20,000 bond.

A pretrial hearing is set November 20 at Toledo Municipal Court.
