ODOT says paving work in Bowling Green's North Main Street widening project is scheduled to finish by November, as opposed to the original date of next July.

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) – The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced paving work on the North Main Street widening project in Bowling Green is scheduled to wrap up by November. Originally, the work was scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2013.

"The big factor for the project moving so quickly has been the weather," said District Two Deputy Director Todd Audet. "Because of last year's mild winter, we were able to get the underground utility work complete in one season. The dry weather over the summer helped to move the remainder of the project forward."

Over the next few weeks, drivers traveling through the construction zone will notice an increase in orange barrels. Through November, crews will be paving, striping and performing traffic signal work, requiring lane restrictions. Crews will continue signal work through the winter, weather permitting.

By next spring, the only work scheduled will be final striping, seeding and signal work, requiring minimal lane restrictions. All work is weather permitting.

Below is the latest traffic update on the street widening project:

Through Oct. 19, North Main Street, also known as state Route 25, between Dill Street and Newton Road, will be two lanes in both directions.

Beginning Oct. 19 through November, lane restrictions are possible in both directions on SR 25, between Dill Street and Newton Road, for paving, striping and signal work.

Through November, lane restrictions are possible near the intersection of Main Street and Poe Road for paving, striping and signal work.

Completion date: July 2013
