Neighbor speaking out about suspect in Islamic Center

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) - The man charged with setting fire to the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo is back in Ohio to face a judge Thursday morning.

52 year-old Randy Linn was arrested in Ft. Wayne Indiana Tuesday and waived extradition. Linn is being held in the Wood County jail.

"It was just a shock. I couldn't, not Randy, you know," said neighbor Carey Crago.

Crago lives two houses down from suspect Randy Linn in Saint Joe, Indiana. Crago has known Linn for 20 years and said she was stunned Linn was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated arson and carrying a concealed weapon.

"Why do you say that's not like him? He's not that kind of guy. I mean, you couldn't ask for a better neighbor. He would do anything in the world for you. Him or his wife, either one," said Crago.

Crago said Linn has always been outspoken but never about any religion or specifically the Muslim faith.

"Yes it upsets me. They have their religion, I have mine. I don't push mine on them, I don't want them to push theirs on me. But this is supposed to be a country of religious rights," said Crago.

"You wouldn't expect something like that from the people that live here. These are God-fearing people that live here and that seems to me like it would be a hate crime," said St. Joe resident Todd McCandlish.

Crago can only find one explanation if his neighbor is guilty.

"He snapped. He had to because that's not Randy. Something snapped," said Crago.

Linn was a truck driver and his company has a location in Perrysburg.
