Leading Edge with Jerry Anderson – September 23, 2012

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

This week on Leading Edge with Jerry Anderson, Jerry sits down with Bowling Green State University Associate Professor of Political Science Dr. Melissa Miller.  The two discussed a tape of controversial comments made by Republican Nominee Mitt Romney back in May, but released in the form of a secret video recording earlier this week.  Dr. Miller examines the political ramifications of the comments, and discusses Romney's response.  Some have said the incident has sealed victory for President Obama, but Dr. Miller says there is a lot that can happen before November 6.

Then later, Jerry speaks with Dr. Ovamir Anjum, Iman Khattab Endowed Chair of Islamic Studies at the University Of Toledo. Recent protesting and violence in Egypt and Libya, which has now spread to other countries across the Middle East and northern Africa, has been attributed by many to an American made anti-Muslim film.  Although the film may have been a lightning rod, Dr. Anjum says there are many other factors at play.  He attempts to put the events into a broader context, and examines these protests' relationship with those, both peaceful and otherwise, which lead to the removal of dictators in several countries last year; a movement which became known as the "Arab Spring".

Finally, Jerry welcomes Toledo News Now anchor Chrys Peterson and cancer survivor Mary Chris Skeldon to discuss next Sunday's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Toledo.
